Bored

There used to be a time early on in my career when I'd look forward to weekends. Friends used to get together for a evening chat program, maybe a movie even.

In recent times, weekends are a big bore; I am mostly confined to home. I've to blame myself for that though -- I absolutely hate the Saturday evening traffic -- too many morons (err.. weekend drivers) on the road.

If only I had the $$$ for a weekend farmhouse... Maybe sometime I will, lets see.

When I first joined work, I _hated_ weekends, since I couldn't check my mails or work. Of course, I was working on a rather controversial topic back then, so I was itching to keep up with it.

But these days on weekdays, I keep a list of interesting things to read/listen to or write over the weekend. Thus most of my afternoons are spent in that.

However, having said that, a "evening chat program" would be a welcome change for most of us. I for one would love to participate! Care to organise one for starters ?! :-)

Ananthu,

I know you are a voracious reader. But you say you are getting bored. I am pretty certain its due to your current choice of reading :-)

I can make some suggestions on a few areas that, once hooked, can keep you busy for the entire weekend.

Get after real knowledge Annie!

Regards, Hari

Sure, all it takes is for folks to drop by my place over a weekend. We used to have our favourite hangouts that still exist :-) Lets see if we can do that in a fortnight's time (am out of town this weekend).

@Hari:
You are probably right. Looks like my attention span has taken a beating. I switch between mundane fiction, philosophy, technical and biography at present.Maybe I should get back to Ludlums that I'd not let go just to get back a 100% into the reading groove.

Suggestions are welcome!

Long time no see on the blogosphere! Was that the cause of boredom or the effect?

@Sripathi
A bit of both I guess :-)

Most times, I think up a topic worth blogging and when I sit down to write about it, decide its not worth. Maybe I should just go ahead and post those anyways.

I agree with the Saturday evening traffic madness. I have changed my shopping / going out schedule to Saturday mornings. There is still some sanity left there.
