Off to .ca tomorrow

One of the perks working for an IT company is that you get to visit a number of places/countries. Just finished packing for the week long trip to .ca - been looking forward to it for a looong time. The OLS is a sorta pilgrimage for Linux kernel hackers. Conferences are places you finally get to place a face to a name. I can think of atleast four people who I've been working with for the past few years, but this will be the first f2f with them. And of course, there are a number of great talks that happen too.

There will be a bunch of people from back home... Vatsa, Vivek, Dipankar, Dino, Maneesh, Suparna. Can't wait to catch up with them about happenings there.

Hey, check out a bunch of pics from Chicago. If you don't know the password, take a guess :-) In any case, you know who to ask!

Hosadarlli agasa goni etthi etthi ogada

Check here for the meaning :) Harry today invited me to join in consolidating proverbs (gaadegaLu) in Kannada (my mother tongue). Interestingly, he created a blog for it. Feel free to contribute to it. Drop a line to me or Harry.

Been a busy 24 hours. A work related call got over at 12:40am EDT. After work, went to the next state (literally... Nashua is in NH) to get a hair-cut. Amma, illi hengasare koodalu kattarsadu :) Took a while to get there. A car had rear-ended a truck on the left lane and that is the perfect recipe for rubbernecking.

Kimball, Prarit and I had an interesting converstation about the American economy, inflation and other trends. Invariably, the conversation veered to social security. Kimball tells me that by 2010, the number of people claiming social security in this country would've doubled. You'll have to look back 50+ years to find the reason: baby-boomers are reaching their retirement age. I should continue the conversation sometime.. these are interesting things to know and understand.

Well, thats about it for the first post. Hopefully, the quality will also become better over time.

So, I decided to start blogging. As of now I don't know

- what will be the basic theme of the blog
- how frequently I will be updating the blog

But, wait for some posts fairly soon
